Travis Kelce responded to Meryl Streep's playful challenge about walking in stilettos on his New Heights podcast

The NFL star joked about his skills in heels but admitted he couldn't match Streep's expertise on cobblestones

Travis Kelce is responding to Meryl Streep's recent comment calling out the 36-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end.

On the Wednesday, April 29 episode of his and brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast, the NFL star was asked about Streep's recent comments.

“The hardest thing about shooting in Milan was walking in stilettos on the cobblestones,” Streep said in a recent featurette for The Devil Wears Prada 2. “I'd like to see Travis Kelce do that.”

When Jason, 38, brought up Streep's comments, Travis replied, “I hope she doesn't have beef with me! I'm a fan of Meryl Streep. I don't have any beef with her,” before learning what the Oscar winner said.

But apparently Streep's comments warranted fighting words for Travis, who jokingly clapped back, “Oh, Meryl, you have no idea how good I am at walking in heels. Okay?”

When Jason suggested Travis attempt the challenge, he quipped, “We're gonna have to find some size 14 heels first.”

After realizing that a stiletto like Streep referenced means the heel has “a pointy bottom,” Travis agreed that he was out of his depth.

“I'll give credit where credit's due,” Travis said. “I don't think I can do it, Meryl. I'll let you have that.”

Jason didn't like Travis' response, declaring, “We don't bow down to anybody,” to which Travis argued, “When it's Meryl Streep, you kinda do. You just gotta, like, bow down.”

Travis added of the highly anticipated sequel, “Can't wait to see Devil Wears Prada 2, though. The first one was a banger. I know this one's gonna be epic.”

Streep was famously in 2014's The Giver alongside Travis' fiancée, Taylor Swift.

The Devil Wears Prada 2, which also stars Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt, hits theaters on Friday, May 1.
