The Voice alum Dylan Carter died in a car accident on Saturday, April 25

Reba McEntire and Carter’s charity, The Local Voice, shared heartfelt tributes honoring his talent, kindness and community impact

Carter owned a campground and worked as a realtor alongside his music career

Dylan Carter, who competed on season 24 of The Voice, has died. He was 24.

The singer died in a car accident on Saturday, April 25 in Colleton County, S.C., TMZ reported. Moncks County mayor Thomas Hamilton Jr. confirmed his death in a Facebook post on Sunday, April 26. Carter was set to perform in the Town of Moncks County on Monday, April 27.

"Our family is heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dylan Carter in a car accident. As a gifted singer, he frequently entertained our community with his performances at Town events," wrote Hamilton. "His kindness and charm earned him immense respect, and his absence will be deeply felt."

He continued, "To the loved ones and acquaintances of Dylan, we offer our sincerest condolences during this difficult period. The Town of Moncks Corner, its Council, and entire staff extend their deepest sympathies. He was much more to our family than an entertainer he was our friend and we are deeply saddened."

Hamilton also shared a photo of a "beautiful rainbow" over the Moncks Corner Municipal Complex following Carter's death and noted that he's "home with his Momma now."

Reba McEntire, who coached Carter on The Voice, shared a statement in tribute to the musician on her Instagram Stories. "We will miss Dylan so much," she began.

"He was a brilliant, kind and talented young man who brought a huge ray of sunshine to The Voice," continued McEntire. "Rest in peace, my dear friend."

In addition to music, Carter was the co-founder of a breast cancer charity called The Local Voice. The organization shared a statement following his death. "With heavy hearts we share the passing of Dylan Carter, co-founder of The Local Voice, talented musician, and someone who meant so much to our community," began the note.

"Dylan was the heart of what we do. He believed every voice matters and lived that every day. Through his music, his kindness, and his smile, he brought people together and made everyone feel seen," continued the statement.

The Local Voice noted that Carter "also owned Sunny Days RV & Campground and worked as a realtor" beyond his music career.

"We are heartbroken, but find comfort knowing he is in heaven with his mother. We are so grateful for Dylan, for the love he gave this community, and for the impact he leaves behind," said the organization. " We will carry his light forward and continue this mission in his honor. Please keep his family in your prayers in the coming weeks as they navigate this tremendous loss."

Carter auditioned for season 24 of The Voice with a performance of Whitney Houston's "I Look to You" and made it to the battle rounds.

His most recent Instagram post featured images from a performance in S.C. that showed him smiling while performing on a makeshift trailer stage. "I’ll take a flat bed trailer over a big stage any day," he wrote in the caption.
