Naked dresses, sculptural gowns, playful fashion moments—2025 had more than its fair share of memorable red-carpet looks.

From Zendaya’s engagement ring debut at the Golden Globes in January to TimothĂ©e Chalamet and Kylie Jenner’s matching take on Marty Supreme-themed dressing in December, the year started and ended in style. In between, award shows and film festivals alike created backdrops for everything from Jonathan Anderson’s custom creations at Dior (Greta Lee’s Academy Museum Gala look, Jennifer Lawrence’s Governors Awards pick), to archival pulls (Chappell Roan’s Degas-embellished, Y2k-era Jean Paul Gaultier dress at the Grammys), sweet tributes (Ariana Grande’s polka-dot Gilbert Adrian gown, Margot Robbie’s transparent Armani PrivĂ© dress), and tons of straight-off-the-runway Spring/Summer 2026 ensembles.

Elsewhere, Ayo Edebiri solidified her status as a fashion icon on the After the Hunt press tour and Sarah Jessica Parker looked ready to fly at the New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala. Rihanna continued to redefine the meaning of maternity dressing and Alexander SkarsgĂ„rd continued to push menswear to new heights. Then, more broadly, revenge dressing saw a widespread resurgence, and despite the Venice Film Festival’s new dress codes, transparent styles and cheeky cutouts prevailed. And while we cannot pick a top favorite, Emma Stone’s popcorn-pocket dress certainly gets extra points for creativity.

Ahead, see all of these moments and more, in our breakdown of the best red-carpet looks of 2025.

Zendaya in Louis Vuitton

Kicking off 2025 in style, Zendaya attended the Golden Globes on January 5 in a burnt-orange Louis Vuitton gown with a dramatic train and couple of hidden meanings. Styled by Law Roach with a diamond necklace and retro curls, the old Hollywood look paid homage to ’40s singer Joyce Bryant, who often wore a similar silhouette on stage. Moreover, the actress debuted a special piece of jewelry—a sparkling diamond engagement ring.
