The actress expressed how much she values fashion and comfort at events

Teyana Taylor is not messing around when it comes to comfort.
Yet the Golden Globe-nominated actress, 35, isn't sacrificing her fashion-forward choices, either, which is why she told PEOPLE exclusively the style trick she keeps up her sleeve to prevent unforeseen wardrobe mishaps at events.
And by "up her sleeve," we actually mean in a sprinter van parked around the corner, according to Taylor, who revealed to PEOPLE at the Gotham Awards in New York City in early December that she keeps slippers in the car.

"Oh my God. They're actually in the sprinter," she shared, specifically referring to her plush Jack Skellington slippers that've already made an appearance at a high-profile event this year.
The One Battle After Another star went viral for changing into her Nightmare Before Christmas slippers after the 2025 Elle Women in Hollywood Awards on Nov. 17. So when asked at the Gotham Awards if the slippers were on standby, Taylor was quick to confirm they were.
However, Taylor said she wasn't wearing them at the time because the event had only just begun. Plus, she was comfortable in the designer shoes she was wearing for the awards that honor the best of independent film.

"You see, as soon as you walk from the car, it's the carpet, so I was like, 'You know, I'll be pushing it by bringing the slippers'," she told PEOPLE before heading inside for the event. "And plus, my Chanel is comfortable today. It's comfortable!"
Still, Taylor brought them just in case.
"But you know, my slippers is never too far," she doubled down. "Never too far, never too far!"
Taylor, who was nominated for outstanding supporting performance in One Battle After Another, wore a striking ensemble to the event. Her shoes weren't the only thing Chanel!

The actress wore an electric red skirt, embellished with layers of feathers and further dramatized with a lengthy train. It featured a high-low hemline, therefore showing off her white designer heels in the front.
The shoes complemented the upper half of her statement look, however, the top was a simple contrast to the head-turning skirt. She wore a silk, short-sleeve blouse in cream that she tucked into the waistband.
