We’ve seen the promos for Wednesday’s episode of *Survivor 50*. We know what — or, rather, *who* — is coming. For better or for worse, MrBeast will be this week’s celebrity guest on *Survivor 50.* You all know how I generally feel about all the celebrity guest-star intrusions onto my favorite television program. In my admittedly possessive view, *Survivor* should be enough on its own that we don’t need celebrity stunt casting to make it feel special — especially on its biggest anniversary season. *Survivor* fans come for *Survivor*, not to hear a celebrity’s name on a parchment for no discernible reason or to watch Zac Brown go spearfishing. The focus should be on the players, not celebrity *fans* of the players.

I’m not trying to regurgitate past qualms, just restating my stance in case you’re new here. And now comes the most controversial celebrity cameo yet, as MrBeast (who has been in the news lately) is set to strut onto the island. How bad will it be? How much time will he take up? Will he get his own confessional? Will he be sporting a massive underwater weapon that looks like it could take down an orca?

Here’s what we *do* know. There will be a *Survivor* auction this week, and as part of that auction, MrBeast will show up with some sort of mystery box (but not *this* Mystery Box). We also know, courtesy of a recent promo, that both MrBeast and that box will also show up at Tribal Council, which understandably has some fans *verrrrrrrry* concerned.

So what does it all mean? It is extremely dangerous to attempt to predict anything *Survivor* related. The producers love to keep contestants and viewers on their toes, and have certainly done that the past two weeks — first unleashing a paired elimination (which I personally loved) and then the Jimmy Fallon One in the Urn. (I thought the puzzle-solving reward of voting for someone at the Journey was truly inspired, yet was not a fan of the punishment of having to not only vote for yourself at Tribal Council, but announce it to the entire tribe — so, split decision from me there).

All that said, one could connect the dots of what we do know to make an educated guess that one possible outcome for this week is that players can bid on MrBeast’s box at the auction and are told that the contents of the box will not be revealed until Tribal Council. That would certainly make sense. Then again, producers took advantages *out* of the new-era auctions because everyone was just holding onto all their money waiting for an advantage, thereby ruining the entire rest of the auction. So maybe it is not an item to be bid upon at all.

As for how much MrBeast we are going to have to endure on our television screens, my best guess is that this will not be a Zac Brown situation where the Beastmaster is off doing confessionals, fishing, and singing not one but *two* songs. Even if he *did* do that stuff while in Fiji and they filmed it, I can’t imagine producers would keep all that in the episode after the avalanche of negative fan feedback directed towards Zac Brown-gate.

While I certainly wish this entire twist was being delivered to players and fans alike from the host of *Survivor* (who remains the best host on planet Earth, no matter what the Emmys say) rather than a celebrity guest star, what’s far more important is what the twist actually *is*. If it’s a super cool wrinkle to the game, like the paired elimination, then all will be forgiven. If it’s Cirie having to vote for herself 17 times, then we could have an issue. More than the person carrying it in, it all comes down to what is in that damn box.

Making a racket about the jacket

Naturally, there was a lot of talk about Angelina and jackets before the season began in her pregame interviews. But it also continued on the island. As the original Vatu tribe was planning out who would be judges and who would take part in their tribal fashion show (which you saw on air), naturally the subject of jackets came up — especially with Genevieve sporting such eye-catching outerwear. Here's a snippet of that discussion that took place on day two.

There’s nothing particularly crazy or epic about this photo I snapped on original Cila while out there on day two of the game. It’s just two people sitting on a log. Big whoop. But I still love it, just because it was so cool to see Cirie and Ozzy back together on the same beach — 20 years after they first began their *Survivor* journeys, and nine years since they last played together on *Game Changers*. I was there with both of them when they first played this game, and it has been awesome watching them continue their story every step along the way.

The Queen has spoken!

We’ve had plenty of winners (Rachel, Tyson, Parvati, Wendell) pop into the Mystery Box this season, and it’s time to welcome yet another, as two-time champion Sandra Diaz-Twine weighs in with her take on the most recent episode, while also naming her winner and loser of the week. *An outtake that did not make it into my **pre-game interview with Christian** on any regrets he had from his *David vs. Goliath* experience:*

“I think that I was happy that for the most part, that I didn't drag people in my confessionals. There are very rare moments that I even glimpsed that, but even those moments I kind of regret. I thought I was being gentle. I thought I was being fair. But people remember that. I mean, there's no game in the confessionals. It doesn't change how I'm voting. How I say a confessional does not gain relevance.

“I thought I was very kind, I think. But it is easy to get in your own head and be like: *Yes, I'm giving this confessional. I get to say whatever I want. This producer wants me to say whatever I'm thinking, but at some point they will see it. And is that okay? *And I think I just got to remind myself — especially since I got such a good edit — that it’s easy to fall into a complacency, right? Am I actually that likable or is it just because they edited out the times I was mean?

“So I've already given a confessional, and we all know how this works and it was about the RizGod. And I'll tell you, I have a lot of details in the pantheon of the RizGodness, but when I give it, I always want to make sure it's in the spirit of he's calling himself the RizGod. Just like Mayor of Slamtown calls himself the Mayor. It's got to be on his terms of what he accepts. I don't know about anything about this guy. Maybe he's nice, maybe he's a douche. I have no idea. Even if he is mean, at some point he will see this and not like it.”

If Emily Flippen weren’t delivering brilliant facial expressions all season long, Aubry Bracco would be getting more credit for some of the doozies she has delivered on a weekly basis. She was clearly tasting victory here in the immunity challenge…right before dropping. And it just seems like a perfect last morsel to take out of this week's Mystery Box.
