The pair is partnering with Metamucil for “Metamucil Mic Grab,” a digital content series designed to address viral wellness trends
Danielle Fishel and Lance Bass have never been afraid to share with each other.
Now, the two are sharing a special message with the world — that it's time to get serious about fiber. The two are talking about fibermaxxing and more as part of “Metamucil Mic Grab,” a digital content series designed to cut through the noise of viral wellness trends.
Speaking with PEOPLE about the partnership, Fishel, 44, and Bass, 46, share some special stories from their past, including one of their favorites — going to prom together.
"Well, I mean, I never got to go to my prom. So I was so excited to be able to go to her prom, because it felt like my prom, although I was like a year older," Bass shared.
"This old man at prom," Fishel laughed.

"But it was exciting because we were teenagers! I mean, we wanted to feel like we were normal teenagers, and this was that moment we actually got to feel like we were just these normal teenagers, at least during parts of it," Bass shared.
Fishel noted that during high school, she split her time between school and Boy Meets World. As a result, "They didn't really treat me any different."
"I wasn't like Topanga at school. I was just Danielle, so it didn't really occur to me that it would be any different than the way they would treat Lance. I just thought like, 'Yeah. Lance is my boyfriend, and he's going to come to prom with me, and it'll be fine. It'll be normal.' I didn't expect for it to be as crazy as it was, but then we showed up to pre-prom to take pictures together. We get to the pre-prom party, and the entire neighborhood showed up with multiple cameras, everybody's cousin, and it was wild."
At the time, *NSYNC had been formed for nearly three years and had a high enough profile that the line between friends and fandom could get blurred.
"At first, he was like, 'This is so fun.' Then, at a certain point, he was like, 'I'm going to have to go sit in the limo,' " Fishel laughs.

Bass noted they experienced the opposite when they went to an Ole Miss game the following year.

"That's where all my friends went to school, my parents went to school, and you forget like, 'Oh, yeah. That's Danielle Fishel,' and this is definitely the market," Bass laughed. "But we always had a great time."
The entertainer and children's book author is excited to be working with the podcast host on sharing the story as a film.
"We're actually even producing our prom story as a film right now, so hopefully that'll be fun to do. We have some incredible writers on that," Bass said, adding, "So, maybe the world will get to see what really happened on our prom night."

Fishel agreed, adding, "It's a beautiful story. We can't wait to share it with everyone."
Sharing has been at the center of the friendship between the two beloved '90s icons. Bass notes, "We have experienced some major milestones together, and that's going to live with you forever."
"As you grow up and you get older and you start having relationships, you start having kids, you kind of go in and out of each other's lives. But this type of friendship is one of those that you always just get right back to, and it's like no day has passed. Those are the friendships you cherish the most, your high school friends, your teenage friends. You could go probably 50 years and not seeing each other, and then we would come right back to each other and be like, "Quickly, where'd we leave off?' which would never happen to us, but that's what I love about this right here."
Fishel agrees, adding, "It's also just so nice to know, when you have gone through that many milestones with each other, there is no judgment. There's nothing Lance could ever come to me with or share with me that would change how I feel about him as a person and what I know about him as a person, and I know he feels that way about me, so there is a comfort level to being able to ask for advice or share something that's going on, and say, 'I'd love your perspective on this,' or to be able to do fun opportunities like this together."
"It's a very authentic and natural partnership for us to be saying, 'Oh my gosh. What made you start taking Metamucil?' It's like these kinds of opportunities that we have, and if I were sitting next to anybody else, this would be an awkward conversation, and it just isn't."

For Fishel, the series is an honest look at how her definition of a "glow up" has evolved since the '90s. "Everyone's talking about a glow-up, but I've realized a true glow-up starts with my gut," said Fishel. "My doctor recommended Metamucil, and now it's my secret to feeling regular, lighter, and ready to show up for my family and work."
For Bass, the series is about managing a busy life with simple, non-negotiable habits. “I love a good wellness hack as much as the next person, but when it comes to feeling great, I always come back to the basics,” said Bass. “With this whole 'fibermaxxing' trend going viral, I'm laughing because, thanks to Metamucil, I've actually been doing this for years. I'm way ahead of the trend!”
