The NBA playoff series between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets took an unfortunate turn on Saturday following injuries to star guard Anthony Edwards and his teammate Donte DiVincenzo.

DiVincenzo was forced to exit the game in the opening minutes after he slipped while trying to chase the ball. He left the arena in a wheelchair, with Shams Charania of ESPN eventually reporting that the veteran guard suffered a torn right Achilles tendon, ending his season.

Edwards, on the other hand, sustained a knee injury in the second quarter. His left knee buckled as he landed awkwardly after contesting a layup. Video replay of the incident showed that the superstar guard clearly hyperextended his knee.

The 24-year-old is expected to undergo more tests on his injured knee, although there are legitimate fears that he'll be out for the remainder of the Nuggets series and potentially the next round should the Timberwolves advance.

Amid the concerns about the health of both Edwards and DiVincenzo, however, several NBA fans couldn't help but call for Commissioner Adam Silver and the league to make some changes.

After all, the NBA has seen plenty of injuries in the playoffs over the past two years. In fact, Tyrese Haliburton, Jayson Tatum and Damian Lillard all suffered torn Achilles tendons in last year's playoffs, further highlighting the league's growing injury problem in the postseason.

"We're just never going to get another playoffs decided by anything but attrition until they slow the game down by rule change or reduce the schedule," NBA reporter Matt Moore stated.

Several followers agreed with Moore's statement, with one fan expressing the belief that a shortened season is the solution: "Seems like dropping the regular season number of games and giving them a couple days between games would give us a better product, same amount of season."

A poster added, "These are the conversations that we need to have. The crisis has reached a level that’s unsustainable."

"There's no reason to ever play back to backs man," a commenter shared.

"40 minute games is the most realistic option," a supporter suggested.

A sixth social media user said, "Add a week between the end of the regular season and start of the playoffs for injury recovery, but also marketing and build up."

It remains to be seen if Silver and the NBA will ever take action. If injuries in the playoffs continue to pile up, though, the commissioner might be forced to address the issue sooner rather than later.
